Our History

PDS Industries has been a Woman-Owned Small Business since its purchase in 1996.
In 1989, Genuine Tool (Est. 1958) and Nuclear Automation (Est. 1945), two top quality precision machining companies, merged to create PDS Industries. With the experience of these two companies, PDS has been manufacturing high quality parts for both the military and commercial marketplaces for over 60 years.

A Message From The Owner . . .

The Pittsburgh, PA area has long been the manufacturing epicenter for the Naval Propulsion Program. A program which began in 1948 at the Atomic Power Laboratory in West Mifflin, PA. In 1989, Genuine Tool Company and Nuclear Automation, formally known as Mason Shaver and Rhodes, joined forces to become Precision Defense Services, Inc., doing business as PDS Industries. For nearly three decades, PDS has been a leading supplier of precision machined components supporting the Naval Industry.

Termination of the Seawolf program by the US Government in 1992 caused PDS a loss of approximately 75% of its backlog. Since purchasing the company in 1996, PDS has realized steady growth. We are proud of the part PDS plays in the national defense of our country.

Our most important assets are our employees and our reputation in the industry we serve. PDS is fortunate to be able to retain our core employees in an industry where experienced personnel are in very high demand. It’s our skilled workforce that allows PDS to thrive in this competitive environment working with some of the top players in the Naval Propulsion, aerospace and commercial industries.

Our Vision Statement sums up what PDS is about. We will adhere to these core values to ensure we remain a high quality and innovative machining source for our valued customers well into the future. Gratitude goes to our senior management team, employees and our customers.
